Tea Profile

At a glance: 2024 Autumn · Tie Guan Yin oolong (Anxi) · our A++++ grade · Sample 7g to 1000g

  • Dry leaf: Tightly curled, even leaves.
  • Aroma: Elegant orchid-like.
  • Liquor: Bright, clear golden-yellow.
  • Taste: Light natural sweetness, rounded and balanced, with floral undertones.
  • Aftertaste: Smooth and lingering.
  • Best for: Stepping up your oolong experience; a good next step for a newcomer who wants more depth.

Brewing Guide

  1. Warm a gaiwan or small teapot and add about 5–6g of leaf per 100ml.
  2. Use water at about 95°C (203°F).
  3. Give the leaves one fast rinse.
  4. Start with 10 seconds for the first infusion so the leaves can open, then 5–10 seconds, then add roughly 5 seconds per round.
  5. Decant fully into a fair cup each time.

Treat these as a starting point and adjust to your taste.

Storage

Zip the bag tight and keep it in the fridge to protect the fresh fragrance. Let it warm to room temperature before opening to avoid condensation.

About the Leaf

You may see some of these; they vary from bag to bag:

  • Some fine pieces: normal for rolled oolong and harmless.
  • Leaves open up a lot: the rolled leaves expand to whole leaves, so a small amount fills the pot.

Wonderful!

First steep of 4 minutes didn't yield much flavor.......Steeping at 7 minutes delivers a wonderful, sweet, non astrigent oolong. One of the best I have had! I ordered more. All the teas from King Tea Mall have been fantastic. Thank you

Great, well-balanced light TGY

This hits the perfect balance for me. Clean, grassy, and floral. There is also a faint sweetness that develops into the finish. This is a great value if you're into light oolongs.
