Tea Profile

At a glance: Spring · Wuyi rock oolong (yancha) · Heavy roast · our A++ grade · Sample 7g to 1000g

  • Dry leaf: Strong, heavy threads with an even color.
  • Liquor: Dark brown, clear and bright.
  • Taste: Natural and with a sweet, varied aftertaste following the first sip.
  • Mouthfeel & body: Substantial.
  • Aftertaste: Long-lasting.
  • Best for: Everyday drinking. This Wuyi rock oolong is easy to enjoy, and a friendly choice for novices.

Brewing Guide

  1. Warm a gaiwan or small teapot and add about 6–7g of leaf per 100ml.
  2. Use water at 100°C (212°F).
  3. Give the leaves one fast rinse.
  4. Start with 5–10 seconds, then add roughly 5 seconds per round.
  5. Decant fully into a fair cup each time.

Treat these as a starting point and adjust to your taste.

Storage

Store sealed in a cool, dry, dark spot away from strong smells. The roast keeps it stable, so the fridge is not needed.

About the Leaf

You may see some of these; they vary from bag to bag:

  • Some stems and broken pieces: normal for hand-sorted loose oolong, and they brew just as well.
  • Darker, glossier leaf: this is the roast, not spoilage.

Not that heavy roasted

Lovely tea, fairly roasted taste but if I compare it to other heavy roasted teas I had from different websites the rosted taste is not very dominant, you can still taste a hint of flowery-sweet taste. Nevertheless it's a great tea and can be brewed a lot of times before losing its taste.

Long lasting flavour

This tea took a bit of getting used to as it is a strong roasted tea, but is great for an all day drinker from a gaiwan. I can easily get 2 litres of tea from 7-10 grams. I often drink this tea in the evening and have never had a sleepless night because of it.
