Product Overview

Since its successful development in 2007, "China Red" (Zhong Guo Hong) has stood as a pinnacle of high-end Dian Hong (Yunnan Black Tea). Its prestige was further cemented on March 4, 2015, when it was presented as a state gift to Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, during his visit to Yunnan.

Craftsmanship & Origin

This tea is crafted using more than ten aromatic cultivars selected from century-old ancient tea trees. Through a rigorous process of meticulous picking, withering, rolling, fermentation, and drying, the inherent fragrance, sweetness, and silkiness of the ancient tree leaves are fully realized.

Sensory Profile

  • Appearance: The dry tea displays sleek, glossy, and tightly twisted cords that emit a profound and captivating orchid fragrance.

  • Flavor & Aroma: The palate is delicate yet mellow. Upon sipping, one experiences a refreshing sweetness accompanied by a complex bouquet of orchid, honey, and ripe fruit notes.

  • Finish: The floral fragrance lingers in the mouth long after the tea is swallowed, with a consistent sweetness that persists through more than 10 infusions.

Technical Specifications

  • Harvest: Spring 2026

  • Grade: Premium A++++ Grade

  • Storage: Store in a cool, dry, and odor-free environment in an airtight container. While black tea is stable at room temperature, keeping it below 25°C (77°F) helps preserve the vibrant floral top notes.

  • Shelf Life: 36 months (the flavor tends to become mellower and deeper over the first 1-2 years).

Brewing Recommendations

  • Water: Mineral or soft filtered water.

  • Temperature: 90–95°C (194–203°F).

  • Steeping: * Gongfu Style: Use ~5g of tea for a 100-120ml gaiwan. Start with quick 5-10 second infusions, gradually increasing the time for later steeps.

    • Note: This tea is remarkably durable; expect 10+ infusions with a stable body and evolving aromatic layers.
