Origination: "Lao Cha Tou" (Old Tea Head) is a product that emerges from the manual fermentation process (Wo Dui). During fermentation, the pectin in tea leaves interacts with pressure and high temperature, forming compact chunks. Historically, these chunks were discarded as they couldn't be easily separated. However, over time, it was discovered that these chunks had a unique and appealing flavor, characterized by higher sweetness and mellowness compared to typical shou cha. Consequently, they were repurposed and named "Lao Cha Tou." The term "Tou" means chunk in Chinese, and "Cha Tou" can also refer to people responsible for making tea.

DaYi began incorporating "Lao Cha Tou" into their lineup starting in 2006.

Taste:

  • Flavor: Smooth and thick with a rich, deep taste.
  • Sweetness: Caramel sweetness is prominent.
  • Aged Characteristics: Exhibits an aged tea flavor.

Storage: Stored naturally in Guangzhou, which aids in the aging process and the development of its distinctive flavor profile.
