Jin Bang - Gan Pu Er

The dry tea leaves smelled like fresh bread and cranberry purée. This transformed into a bilberry and ground coffee smell after a quick rinse. The texture of the brew was thick and velvety smooth, with maroon and titian brown tinge. The tea soup was clean and bright, with hints of dark fruits, old wood and carrot juice notes. The empty cup had a gentle vanilla scent. The aftertaste had a slightly metallic finish with rum notes and cocoa sweetness.

I used 7g of material in a 100ml gaiwan with boiling water and I could infuse it 6-8 times.

I was looking for a dark, chocolatey, murky shou, so in that regard, I failed with this tea. But it delivered a completely different experience, both fruity and slightly earthy. Considering the price and the taste, this is a win for me.

Splendid Sweet Surprise

+ Clean, no strange smell or Wo-Dui-smell
+ Strong "dark" aroma, to my nose, such as dark tobacco (not smoky though), oak-wood, spice (as red pepper), and a nice dry cup aroma reminding me of a malty whiskey
+ Taste: No bad surprises, to my; tastes as good as the smell promised
+ Complex (not boring), good mouthfeel (lubricating), good finish
+ Makes me feel good
- Does not last very long (around 6-8 strong brews plus 4 light tasting, fragrant brews)

Fazit for me: Good quality and a hard to beat price-value-ratio.

Thanks for the fast delivery!
