Even if they had used their own brand name, no matter how unrefined or tacky it might sound, they could have earned well-deserved recognition, survived in the market, and built their own market share. We believe the tea leaves and flavor profile prove that their product does not fall behind many other brands in today’s puerh market—especially when compared to those crudely made, undrinkable, and unmarketable teas.

Understanding the Storage Wet storage is often conflated with Hong Kong storage, but they are not identical. Traditional HK storage is a deliberate, highly skilled process designed to accelerate natural aging under controlled, high-humidity conditions.
Some consumers question the health implications of HK storage compared to young raw puerh. Whether young raw puerh holds a distinct health advantage over well-managed HK storage remains open to debate. While neither young sheng nor HK storage serves as my daily driver, both represent important dimensions of puerh culture worth appreciating.
It is also vital to distinguish professional HK storage from improper, unintended "wet storage"—such as tea compromised by Guangdong’s prolonged, humid summers due to poor handling, particularly in the early 2000s. Tea subject to bad storage of that nature develops a persistent moldy aroma, harsh astringency, and an uncomfortable tightening or itching sensation in the throat. Such tea is unfit for consumption and belongs in the trash.

Taste & Texture: The raw, aggressive bitterness and astringency of youth have largely dissipated. It now drinks smooth, mellow, and noticeably sweet.

Character: While it has lost the sharp variations typical of dry-aged raw tea, it retains a distinct raw puerh identity—clean, aged, and entirely different from ripe (shou) puerh.
