Product Specifications & Description

  • Teapot Shape: Ju Lun Zhu — A classic Yixing round form, its name often rendered in English as "giant wheel pearl." The compact, rounded body sits comfortably in one hand, and its plain, unadorned lines have made it a long-standing favorite among gongfu tea drinkers.

  • Capacity: 200 ml — Medium volume ideal for individual Gongfu tea sessions or serving 2–4 people.

  • Clay Material: Hei Ni — Yixing black clay, an iron-rich clay that fires to a deep, near-black tone. Like other Yixing clays, it has a porous, breathable body and holds heat well.

  • Craftsperson: Ms. Yang Liya — Accompanied by the artist’s official certificate of authenticity.

Tea Pairing & Brewing Mechanics

  • Recommended Tea Types:

    • puerh: Excellent for both aged raw puerh and ripe puerh. Hei Ni's steady heat retention and breathable clay body help smooth out fermentation notes and soften raw astringency.

    • Heavily Roasted Oolongs: Wuyi Rock Tea (Yancha), Phoenix Dancong, and traditional roasted Tieguanyin. The clay absorbs harsh roast notes while highlighting lingering floral and mineral aromas.

    • Dark & Aged Teas: Hei Cha (Anhua, Liu Bao) and aged white tea (e.g., Shou Mei). Maintains the high, steady water temperature required to extract dense sweetness across long infusions.

    • Black Teas: Dian Hong (Yunnan Black) and Lapsang Souchong, enhancing full-bodied mouthfeel and sweetness.

  • Clay & Thermal Characteristics:

    • Heat Retention: Retains heat longer and dissipates warmth slower than porous Duan Ni or thin Zhu Ni, making it well-suited for teas requiring consistently high water temperatures to release deep flavor layers.

    • Patina & Maintenance: Hei Ni gradually absorbs tea oils with use. Its dark tone hides tea staining well, and with regular brewing the surface develops a soft, glossy luster (patina).
