Tie Luo Han, also known as “Iron Arhat,” is one of the esteemed “Si Da Ming Cong” cultivars from the Wuyi Mountains in Fujian Province, China.

Origin: Harvested from the lush, verdant fields of the Qing Shi Yan (Green Lion Cliff) region in Wuyi Mountain during the vibrant spring of 2024.

Roasting: This exquisite Tie Luo Han undergoes a meticulous medium-heavy charcoal roasting process, enhancing its depth and complexity while preserving the inherent qualities of the tea.

Appearance: The tea threads are tightly rolled, presenting a uniform dark color, indicative of high-quality craftsmanship and careful processing. Their thickness and evenness are a testament to the premium nature of the leaves.

Liquor: When steeped, this Oolong yields a liquor that is impressively clear with a luminous brightness, reflecting the purity and vitality of the spring harvest.

Flavor Profile:
  • Sweetness: The tea offers a notably more pronounced and lingering sweetness compared to the 2022 vintage, providing a refreshing taste that delights the palate.
  • Texture and Mouthfeel: It is rich, smooth, and mellow, delivering a sophisticated tapestry of flavors that are both comforting and invigorating. The medium-heavy roast lends a subtle complexity without overpowering the natural floral and fruity notes of the Tie Luo Han.

Experience: Each sip of this Wuyi Yancha unfolds with layers of flavor, where the roast enhances the tea's inherent qualities without dominating them. The tea's aftertaste is clean, sweet, and persistent, leaving a refreshing sensation that beckons for another cup.

Grade: A++++ - A grade that speaks volumes about its quality, from the selection of the leaves to the roasting technique, this tea is a connoisseur's delight, perfect for those who appreciate the nuanced art of Wuyi oolong.

Excellent grade Tie Luo Han - amazing aroma

This is a very satisfying Tie Luo Han and, for the price, a real bargain. No hint of astringency when brewed Guandong style in a Chaozhou pot but excellent body and strength. The Gong Dao Bei smells intensely like salted caramel and sweet date candy after a minute or so. A little spice comes out in later brews, all in all, an excellent and enjoyable tea.

Suprisingly good yancha for a great price

This is an excellent yancha, outperforms many of my much more (like 6 times) expensive stuff. And not necessarily by winning side-by side comparisons. Some well rounded teas taste better when trying together. But I find myself always returning to this one, while the "better" teas lie undisturbed for months. It must have some magic others do not have. Do try if you are into rock tea.
