Qian Liang Tea

Qian Liang Cha (Thousand Tael Tea) is a famous dark tea from Anhua County in Hunan Province. One pillar holds about 1000 liang in the old Chinese measure, around 36 to 37kg. The tea is packed by hand into a long wrapping of bamboo and leaves, pressed and tied tightly, then dried in the open air. Our 2009 Anhua Qian Liang Cha is sold as pieces of about 750g cut from the pillar.

Qian Liang belongs to the Hua Juan Cha (Floral Roll Tea) family, made the same way in smaller sizes. From CNNP there is the 2024 16 Liang, a 580g pillar in bamboo wicker, and the 2025 Bai Liang (Hundred Taels), a 3625g pillar.

Also from Anhua is the 2009 Tian Jian (Heavenly Tips), a loose leaf dark tea packed in a 1000g bamboo basket. Once a tribute tea, it is made from tender spring leaves dried over pine wood fire, which gives a light pine smoke aroma. All these teas brew a clear orange to red cup with a smooth, mellow taste, and are sold as samples as well as whole pieces. King Tea Mall is an online shop based in Guangzhou, China.
