Overview

As one of Wuyi Star’s milestone creations, Hong Yun Da Hong Pao represents the perfect harmony of fragrance, flavor, and roasting craftsmanship. Adhering to the traditional intangible heritage techniques of Da Hong Pao, this tea is carefully medium-roasted to bring out its signature rock charm (yan yun)—a balance of floral, fruity, and woody notes wrapped in a smooth, mellow body.

Appearance & Aroma

The dry leaves are tightly twisted and solid, exuding a rich, layered aroma even before brewing. Once steeped, the tea releases an elegant and enduring fragrance of ripe fruits and roasted wood, showcasing the depth and refinement of Wuyi rock tea.

Taste Profile

The liquor is full-bodied, silky, and finely textured, with a pronounced rock rhyme (yan yun). It offers a sweet and lingering aftertaste, mellow yet brisk, carrying hints of caramelized fruit and subtle roast. The finish is clean and lasting, leaving a pleasant sweetness in the throat.

Leaf & Finish

The infused leaves are even, glossy, and fragrant, reflecting precise roasting and meticulous craftsmanship.

Packaging

Each box contains twelve individually packed mini sachets—each perfectly portioned for a single brew. This design preserves the tea’s freshness and aroma, allowing convenient enjoyment whether at home or on the go.

Legacy & Recognition

Since its debut, Hong Yun Da Hong Pao has become a defining benchmark for medium-roasted Da Hong Pao flavor. Its balanced character has captured tea lovers around the world, featured prominently in the global “From Star to Dahongpao” tasting events.

In 2006, Wuyi Star’s Hong Yun Da Hong Pao was selected as the designated tea of the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse, served to visiting heads of state and dignitaries—further establishing its reputation as a symbol of authentic Wuyi tea.

The Legacy of "Wuyi" Brand Da Hong Pao: This "Classic Flavor" continues a lineage dating back to the 1980s. It was then that the Wuyishan Tea Science Research Institute successfully cultivated and produced finished Da Hong Pao through asexual reproduction from the original mother bushes. The "Wuyi" (武夷) trademark, one of the earliest registered for Wuyi teas, quickly became synonymous with authentic, high-quality Da Hong Pao. Commercial packaged Da Hong Pao under this brand was launched in 1985, becoming a long-standing, sought-after product of the Tea Research Institute. In 2003, WuYiStar Tea Co., Ltd., a national key leading enterprise in agricultural industrialization, acquired the esteemed "Wuyi" brand, proudly continuing its rich heritage.

Quality & Sourcing: Produced by Wuyi Star Tea Co., Ltd., this tea is sourced from their extensive 7,500+ mu (approximately 1,235+ acres) of proprietary tea gardens. Their renowned Jiulongshan Tea Garden, among others, adheres to stringent quality standards, backed by certifications including:
