Lao Ban Zhang is the brand's best-known tea. It is made from leaves of Laobanzhang village on Bulang Mountain in Menghai, often called the king of puerh for its strong body and bold character. For this 357g sheng (raw) cake, ChenShengHao uses leaves from old trees of about 300 years and buys the fresh leaves directly in the village, so it can follow the quality from picking to pressing.

Young Lao Ban Zhang gives a thick, powerful cup with some bitterness that turns quickly into a long, sweet aftertaste, along with strong cha qi. It can be enjoyed now or kept for many years, as the taste becomes deeper and smoother with age. The tea is sold as samples of 7g and 35g, as a single cake or as a stack of seven.
