Qing Zhuan Tea

Qing Zhuan Cha (Green Brick Tea) is a dark tea from Hubei Province, not a green tea. It is made from Lao Qing Cha (Old Green Tea), where "lao" is part of the traditional name rather than a sign of age. Like most dark teas it uses coarse, mature leaves, pressed into firm bricks that age well over time.

Our Qing Zhuan bricks come from the ZhaoLiQiao Tea Factory in Hubei, sold under the Chuan brand. The 2009 brick is a large 1700g piece and the 2012 brick weighs 380g. Both have a dark appearance and an elegant aroma, and they brew a bright, clear liquor of deep red close to brown, with a smooth, mellow taste.

Qing Zhuan is easy to brew in a teapot, or it can be boiled for a richer cup. Each brick is also sold as samples from 20g, as well as half and whole bricks, so you can taste before buying. King Tea Mall is an online shop based in Guangzhou, China.
